Andrew Caplan concentrates his litigation practice in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith, securities, complex business torts, contractual matters, consumer protection claims and unfair and deceptive trade practices actions. He has extensive experience representing individuals, businesses and insurers in complex insurance coverage and bad faith disputes involving all lines of insurance.
Highlights:
- Obtained millions of dollars in insurance benefits for numerous businesses and individuals.
- Secured $2 million arbitration award for biotech start-up after failed merger with public company.
- Won triple damages and million dollar attorneys’ fee award at trial for investors defrauded by major Wall Street brokerage firm.
- Obtained $775,000 settlement of wrongful death claim prior to filing suit.
- Secured injunction ordering former employee to return clients lists and all other confidential information to his former employer.
- Successfully defended start-up medical diagnostics company in federal court lawsuit brought by public company; secured favorable settlement after defeating preliminary injunction request.
- Sued insurer who repeatedly refused to cover lawsuit against client; secured settlement reimbursing all of client’s attorneys’ fees and assuring that all future attorneys’ fees and any settlement or judgment in the lawsuit would be covered.
