Experience:
Prior to joining Burns & Levinson in January 2006, Mr. Burg was a Partner at the firm Perkins Smith & Cohen LLP.
In his practice, Mr. Burg represents U.S. and foreign companies in the United States and abroad, in such matters as acquisitions, sales, mergers, joint ventures, product distribution, commercial contract negotiations, commercial dispute resolution, and estate planning and administration. He is experienced in international dispute resolution. In his estate planning practice, Mr. Burg has been involved in tax and estate planning for many clients, often with closely held business assets.
Along with serving on the Boston Bar Association's International Section's Steering Committee, Mr. Burg serves and has served in leadership positions with numerous national, state and local organizations and is involved in politics and government relations in the course of both this work, and client work.
Mr. Burg served six years as a member of the International Executive Committee of IAG International, a world-wide multidisciplinary network of law, tax advisory and accounting firms, which enables clients of member firms to conduct business across national borders with confidence and competence. Mr. Burg is engaged in cross-border commercial business transactions around the world. In addition, he has served as a consultant to the Rhode Island Export Assistance Center, which assists area businesses with all aspects of international trade.
