Experience:
Prior to joining Burns & Levinson LLP in January 2006, Harvey Kaye was Of Counsel at Perkins, Smith and Cohen LLP.
Mr. Kaye is well known as an early practitioner in the area of practice before the United States International Trade Commission, which deals with imports that violate United States intellectual property rights. He advises clients in various aspects of patent, trademark and copyright law, trade secret law and unfair trade practice law. He drafts and negotiates United States and international licenses and other agreements. He files and prosecutes applications to obtain intellectual property rights in the United States and abroad in a wide spectrum of technical areas.
He worked in the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner from 1956-1957. In 1962, he co-founded a law firm that he co-managed for 21 years, practicing all aspects of intellectual property law and unfair trade practice law. Of counsel in the Washington, DC office for 14 years Mr. Kaye, in 1990, together with the firm of Cohen, Burg & Simmons, P.C. merged and became Perkins, Smith & Cohen.

- Mr. Kaye has written and lectured extensively over his career. He has also co-written a two-volume work, International Trade Practice, which was first published in 1981 with annual supplements. It was rewritten as a second edition, which was published in 1997, with annual supplements, and published by West Group.
