Experience:
Prior to joining Burns & Levinson LLP in April of 2007, Mr. Cook was an associate at the law firm Michaels & Ward LLP. His practice focuses on securities law, particularly the customer/broker-dealer relationship. He has represented investors nationwide in arbitration, mediation, and litigation with a wide range of claims, including securities fraud, unauthorized transactions, and unsuitable investments. Mr. Cook has also represented broker-dealers in defense of customer complaints as well as in contract, employment, and regulatory matters. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Significant Cases:
- Secured seven million dollars of investor funds misappropriated by a fraudulent foreign currency trading company and forced the company into involuntary bankruptcy after a trial contested by Swiss liquidators.
- Successfully represented an elderly couple whose brokers mismanaged and stole their multimillion-dollar life savings using forged authorization forms.
- Obtained dismissal of all claims against a broker-dealer after an arbitration arising from customer complaints of unsuitability relating to CMOs.

Additional Information:
- While attending law school, Mr. Cook served as the Annual Survey Editor for the Richmond Journal of Law & Technology.
- Mr. Cook launched the Annual Survey of Electronic Discovery Law, 10 Rich. L.J. & Tech. 49-53 (2004). The annual survey was the first student-edited publication to focus exclusively on issues of e-discovery and consisted of five articles written by practitioners and experts in the field.
- Mr. Cook published a casenote, Commercial or Political? Kasky and the Abridgement of Free Speech in America, 5 U.C. Davis Bus. L.J. 7 (2004).
