Experience:
Prior to joining Burns & Levinson LLP in January 2006, Mr. Sugrue was an associate with the firm Perkins Smith & Cohen LLP. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of business litigation, concentrating his practice on closely-held and family-owned corporations and partnerships. He also represents families who pursue claims under the Massachusetts Wrongful Death Act and is experienced in civil and criminal appeals.
Mr. Sugrue previously served two judicial clerkships: he was a law clerk for Justice Francis X. Flaherty of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, and a law clerk for the Trial Justices of the Rhode Island Superior Court. Before attending law school, he headed a team that administered the resolution of labor/management disputes for the Boston office of the American Arbitration Association.

Additional Information:
- While in law school, Mr. Sugrue was Production Editor of the Suffolk University Law Review and authored The Rights of Settling Tortfeasors Under the Massachusetts Contribution Among Tortfeasors Act, 35 SUFFOLK U. L. REV. 571-590 (2001). He received First Place in the Tom C. Clark Appellate Advocacy Competition, for which he also received the Best Brief Award.
