Experience:
Steven Goodwin has been a Partner at Burns & Levinson since 1980 and established the firm's Trusts and Estates Group in 1985. Mr. Goodwin represents clients in estate and asset protection planning, settlement of estates, and the administration of trusts. He represents banks, trust companies and other professional fiduciaries in the administration of complex estates and trusts.
Mr. Goodwin has particular expertise in the estate planning problems faced by entrepreneurs whose wealth is principally in nonliquid assets. He is also experienced in the disposition of family businesses where competing interests must be weighed, judged and dealt with efficiently and properly. He advises clients on the intricacies of purchase and sale agreements, funded irrevocable life insurance trusts, charitable remainder and similar split interest vehicles. He represents clients before federal and state tax examiners and has an excellent reputation in the settlement of difficult or complex audits.
