Yakov Korkhin's practice focuses on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution.
Prior to joining Burns & Levinson LLP, Dr. Korkhin was a consultant in computational chemistry and cheminformatics for CytRx Corporation. He also participated on drug discovery teams in several disease areas while a Senior Scientist at Enanta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Korkhin’s expertise in drug discovery includes structural biology, structure guided drug design, biochemistry, molecular biology, in vitro pharmacology. He contributed several chapters towards an IND package for a novel antibiotic which entered clinical trials and presented his work in scientific meetings and peer reviewed publications. Dr. Korkhin’s physics expertise includes developing computational methods for modeling radiation transfer in the Earth’s lower and upper atmosphere. He co-invented an interference correlation spectrometer for measuring atmospheric constituents.

Awards:
- While conducting postdoctoral research on structural basis of eukaryotic transcription initiation at Yale and Harvard, he was the recipient of the Eugene V. Weissman – Irvington Institute for Immunological Research fellowship.
- While at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Mr. Korkhin was awarded the Elhanan Bondi memorial prize for excellence in graduate work and honored on the State of Israel distinguished students list of honors.
