Burns & Levinson Supports MBA Eco-Challenge: Partner Brian D. Bixby serves on Energy and Environment Task Force

Boston, MA - March 4, 2008

Burns & Levinson is proud to support the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) in its environmental push, Lawyers Eco-Challenge – One Planet, One Pledge, and has joined forces as a Signature Firm. Partner Brian D. Bixby serves on the MBA’s Energy and Environment Task Force that is helping to lead the charge. As a leading mid-sized law firm Burns & Levinson will be part of an ongoing effort to conserve energy and encourage other lawyers and law firms to be more environmentally friendly.

“This is a real concern for us,” said Brian D. Bixby co-chair of Burns & Levinson’s Private Client Group. “We have several environmentally-conscious efforts that have been going on for quite some time, especially as the firm has grown. We’ve put even more of an emphasis on some of these changes in recent years to reduce energy, recycle, reduce paper and develop other initiatives. It’s amazing the energy you can save by simply shutting off your computer each night. We all need to be more aware and educated on this topic.”

Burns & Levinson plans to educate its employees and clients on ways to conserve and teach others through its association with the MBA’s Eco-Challenge. Burns & Levinson has for many years been implementing efforts in energy conservation, paper reduction and recycling, greenhouse and gas reduction, as well as implementing environmentally conscious purchases and sustainable practices.

“We’ve been doing this for a while, and now, especially with our expansion plans and construction, we will be implementing a formal program to educate our attorneys and staff and build on what we’ve been doing as a firm and even personally,” said Paul Morton, executive director. “It just takes a little extra thought to find a simple solution to being more environmentally conscious.”

This spring Burns & Levinson will be expanding its office at their Boston headquarters at 125 Summer Street, which includes plans for sustainable practices and energy conservation changes throughout older space and new construction. This buildout also serves as a launching plan for the educational process and program.

The firm encourages other law firms to follow their lead and make efforts to conserve energy. To read Burns & Levinson's report about the firm's Eco-Challenge progress: CLICK HERE.
