Burns & Levinson Expands Intellectual Property and Private Client Groups

Burns & Levinson LLP welcomes Paul D. Sorkin as an of counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property group and Andrea E. Nelson as an associate in the firm’s Private Client group. “We’re excited to welcome Paul and Andrea to the firm,” said Burns & Levinson Managing Partner David Rosenblatt. “Their arrival bolsters the depth and strength of our growing family law and patent prosecution practices.” Paul, who joins the Intellectual Property and Patent practices, has more than 20 years of experience obtaining, defending and evaluating patents. He secures patent protection aligned with business requirements and product lines, and conducts evaluations of patent portfolios for product clearance, non-infringement and invalidity opinions. He regularly prepares patent applications for electrical, electromechanical, electronic and software-based technologies in addition to applications for medical devices. Paul is a member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and the Boston Patent Law Association. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Paul worked for a mid-sized firm in Boston and as in-house counsel for Sun Microsystems. Paul holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and a B.S.E.E from Rutgers University. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and is a member of the American, Boston and Essex County Bar Associations. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, she was an associate at a both a family law firm in the Boston area and a boutique family law firm in New Jersey. After graduating from law school, she served as the law clerk to the Honorable Thomas J. Walsh, J.S.C, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part. Andrea holds a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. from Stonehill College.
