When it comes to real estate, design and construction, commercial and institutional clients rely on Fran Gershwin for counsel. Real estate serves as an integral part of many of their businesses. Public, nonprofit and private sector property owners, including individuals, public and private universities, and public agencies, come to her in connection with acquisitions and dispositions of real estate, operational issues, development and project procurement, and complex title problems. Owners rely on her extensive knowledge of land use planning, environmental permitting, historic preservation, development, complex design and construction issues relating to institutional, commercial, industrial and residential projects.

Community Involvement

  • Chair, Muddy River Restoration Project Maintenance and Management Oversight Committee (MMOC), created by the Secretary of the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs for the Emerald Necklace/Muddy River Restoration Project. The MMOC provides independent citizen oversight of this multi-jurisdictional project of the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Brookline Division of Parks and Open Space, which also involves property under the care and control of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Fran has been involved with the project since 1999, when she was appointed by the Secretary to serve on the Citizens Advisory Committee established as part of the MEPA Special Review Process for the project.
