Throughout his 20 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, George Chaclas has provided counsel to clients as varied as Fortune 100 companies, world-renowned academic institutions, industry leading companies, start-ups and individual entrepreneurs.

George focuses on acquiring and using IP assets to accomplish strategic goals, such as in negotiating and drafting licenses, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and enforcing intellectual property rights. His varied background has helped him marshal patent applications for many technologies through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including nanotechnology, semiconductors, business methods, bioinformatics, telecommunications, medical devices, testing equipment, fluidics, RADAR, aerospace, engines and quantum computing.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, George worked in the semiconductor area for 12 years as an electrical engineer.

Experience

  • Prepared and prosecuted well over 500 patents.
  • Won more than 50 appeals for pending patent applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Led the team that successfully represented an industry-leading in vitro fertilization product provider in a patent infringement action. Analyzed validity, infringement, and claim construction positions. The case was ultimately on favorable terms.
  • Prepared patentability, infringement and invalidity opinions for a major multinational consumer goods company.
  • Represented leading chromatography company in Oral Hearing before the PatentTrial and Appeal Board at the USPTO.
  • Handles a substantial portfolio for an industry leading water follow control company.
