Laura Studen's career is focused on the areas of employment law, business litigation and family and probate law. She has managed litigation cases surrounding workplace harassment and employment contract negotiations, among other employment matters, as well as divorce and child custody and removal cases. Ms. Studen has written and lectured extensively on the law, pertaining to employment and domestic matters, and strategy, regarding critical issues and trends in litigation. As a senior fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, Ms. Studen's work is known throughout the state and nation.

As a former Chair of the Business Litigation Department and a member of the Firm’s Management Committee, Laura R. Studen practices both within the Firm’s Business Litigation and Divorce & Family Groups. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson in 2001, Ms. Studen was a Senior Partner at Lane, Altman & Owens LLP, where she was the Chair of the Employment Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on employment law, business litigation and family and probate law, and she counsels companies as well as individuals.

For more than 30 years, Ms. Studen has handled complex disputes, including litigation in multiple venues and jurisdictions. She has been lead counsel in matters involving employment disputes (including discrimination, wrongful discharge, workplace harassment, executive compensation and employment contract negotiations), and her family law practice includes litigation of child custody and removal as well as divorce among medium to higher net worth individuals involving complex business valuation and asset issues. She has spoken and written extensively on matters affecting the rights of individuals in the workplace, as well as in areas encompassing the broad range of domestic and family conflicts.
