Michael DeIulis is an associate in the firm's Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. He has extensive experience representing clients in a wide range of commercial disputes in state and federal court, and alternative dispute resolution forums. 

Michael’s practice focuses on business disputes involving complex commercial, business tort, contract, employment, and securities claims. He has also successfully represented clients in white-collar investigations and various maritime matters.

Having worked with clients of all sizes across different industries, Michael appreciates that not all clients have the same outlook, resources or objectives. He is therefore committed to understanding his clients’ businesses so he can work with them to formulate effective litigation and dispute avoidance strategies tailored to meet their unique needs.

Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Michael was a litigation associate in the Boston office of a large international law firm.

Experience

  • Drafting and strategic analysis of pleadings, dispositive motions, and written discovery in state and federal court.
  • Initiated high-profile maritime limitation of liability action following the sinking and largest loss of life for a U.S.-flagged vessel in over 30 years.
  • Seconded to maritime shipping client for joint Coast Guard and NTSB investigative hearings on the sinking of Jones Act Ro-Ro/container vessel and loss of all crewmembers.
  • Represented Fortune 500 company executives in both internal and government white-collar investigations concerning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Negotiated successful settlement of telecommunications contract dispute on behalf of international travel retailer.
  • Appeared on behalf of and secured political asylum for Honduran pro bono client in Boston Immigration Court, following two years of comprehensive representation.
