"Good litigators need to be counselors as well as advocates. Giving sound, reasoned advice outside of the courtroom matters just as much - if not more - than being able to make a compelling argument in it."
A partner in the firm's Divorce & Family Law Litigation Group, Ron Barriere brings a practical, no-nonsense approach to his representation of clients in all aspects of divorce and family law. A zealous advocate and litigator, Ron is also a skilled negotiator, and works with each individual client to seek the result that is best for that client. His experience as both an attorney and a trained family law mediator and conciliator gives him a unique perspective on the settlement process, and his compassionate "hands-on" approach is an asset to individuals and families in transition. His commitment to client service and holistic approach to addressing client concerns often makes him a trusted advisor to individuals and families even after the courtroom closes.
An experienced trial lawyer, in his family law practice, Ron has extensive litigation experience in the areas of divorce, abuse prevention orders, custody disputes, actions involving the Department of Children and Families, paternity actions, and post-divorce modification and enforcement of alimony, child support, and other judgments. He routinely negotiates and drafts prenuptial, cohabitation and divorce agreements.
Ron serves Barnstable, Bristol, Norfolk and Plymouth counties as a trained family law mediator. As a neutral mediator, he helps couples amicably resolve family law issues, such as divorces, custody and support disputes, and paternity matters, through informed negotiation. He is a trained conciliator, certified by the Barnstable County Bar Association.
A member of firm’s Entertainment and Media group, Ron is experienced with the unique considerations of working with athletes, screenwriters, actors, songwriters and musicians in both litigation and non-litigation contexts.
