Steve Mills has been counselling clients in the acquisition and protection of Intellectual Property rights, including patents and trademarks, for over 25 years. Steve serves a wide range of clients, including publicly traded multinational corporations, educational institutions, small closely-held companies, and individuals.

Steve works closely with his clients in developing, maintaining and protecting their intellectual property portfolios, and in using their intellectual property to protect their business markets.  He advises and represents clients on a wide array of patent and trademark matters, including U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent validity, infringement and licensing matters, corporate transactions, and opposition and litigation proceedings.  He has extensive experience in a variety of technology areas, such as electronics, optics, medical devices, computer hardware and software, mechanical devices and systems, and environmental control devices and systems.

Before entering the practice of law, Steve worked in the private technology industry with two multinational high-technology manufacturing companies as an electrical/mechanical design engineer.  His background in engineering provides him unique insight into the challenges that his clients encounter.

As a patent attorney, Steve has prepared and successfully prosecuted patent applications directed to semiconductor devices, electronic circuits, computer hardware, internet software, communications systems, artificial intelligence, imaging systems, medical instruments, optical devices, lasers, remote sensing and measuring devices, and mechanical and environmental devices and systems.
