Bill Lyons uses his more than 25 years of experience to advise developers, government agencies and financial institutions on large-scale real estate development and infrastructure projects. He is a noted expert and thought leader on transportation policy, project delivery and infrastructure finance. He advises clients on complex projects and program initiatives, and plays a key role in the firm's government relations practice. Bill's experience includes entitlement strategies, permitting, land use and zoning matters, title matters, right-of-way and easements, disposition of public real property, public procurement, and eminent domain matters.

Bill is the CEO and founder of the Fort Hill Companies LLC, a suite of firms offering services in architecture, civil engineering, planning, real estate advisory services, land use and environmental permitting, stakeholder participation, sustainability, and claims analysis providing services on a global scale, with projects on three continents and in 15 countries. Prior to founding the Fort Hill Companies, Bill was a founding partner of the Land Strategies Group, where he also served as general counsel. Before that he served as director of traffic & parking for the City of Somerville, Mass., and as a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Highway Department (now the Department of Transportation).

Bill has extensive military experience and currently serves in the rank of Colonel. He has been an Army Reservist since 1989 and has participated in multiple operational deployments to the Middle East and Europe. Bill is presently serving as a brigade level commander of a military intelligence unit. He also serves on the Council of Colonels of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command, a general officer command at Fort Belvoir, Va. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge, among many decorations.

Bill is a licensed professional engineer in nine states, a licensed real estate broker, a licensed professional planner in New Jersey, a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP).
