June 25, 2012

Burns & Levinson is pleased to announce that partner Ellen J. Zucker has been recognized by Chambers USA 2012 Guide as a “Notable Practitioner” in the Labor & Employment: Mainly Plaintiffs Representation: Massachusetts category. The esteemed Chambers Guide is one of the leading resources for the legal profession, drawing its lists of recommended counsel largely from interviews with clients at major national companies.

Ms. Zucker is known for work on high profile cases involving professionals and executives, and she is well versed in breach of contract matters. “It is a privilege to be recognized again by Chambers USA and gratifying to think that some of my clients (and even a few adversaries) recommended me for this honor,” Ms. Zucker said.

Earlier this year, Ms. Zucker received the NAACP’s Drum Major Award for Justice in recognition of her work advancing civil rights in the pursuit of social justice. She continues to celebrate the significant victory for her client in the case of Monteiro v. City of Cambridge, where she represented a former city employee who prevailed at trial and on appeal on her claim of workplace retaliation and who ultimately received an award of damages of over $8 million, including the largest punitive damages award ever sustained by an appellate court in an employment case in Massachusetts.

Since 1999 Chambers USA has ranked leading firms and lawyers in an extensive range of practice areas throughout America. The independent, objective, in-depth research guide is read and used as a referral source by industry-leading companies and organizations throughout the US and worldwide.
