October 19, 2011

Boston-based law firm Burns & Levinson LLP is a proud recipient of a 2011 Boston Business Journal Leaders in Diversity Award for the category Workplace Diversity Initiative. The firm was recognized along with other diversity leaders at an event hosted by the publication on October 21, 2011. The Leaders in Diversity award honors Boston business leaders who have set personal examples for others in the area of diversity and inclusion, and have built strong, effective and measurable diversity programs. Burns & Levinson actively promotes diversity among its workforce, with an active women partners’ network, prominent gay and lesbian attorneys, and a structure designed to make these groups feel welcome and to help them grow in a measurable, defined manner. The firm has a non-discrimination policy and includes domestic partners in its benefit offerings. Within the community, Burns & Levinson regularly employs Brighton High School teenagers with diverse backgrounds as part of the Boston Summer Jobs program, which coordinates paying job opportunities for inner-city teens. “Burns & Levinson seeks to engage and employ the best lawyers to meet our clients’ needs. Our diversity initiatives have allowed us to attract remarkable talent to the firm, and this inclusiveness similarly attracts remarkable clients,” said David Rosenblatt, Managing Partner of Burns & Levinson. “Promoting diversity among our partners, associates and staff is a firm priority. We are honored that the Boston Business Journal has recognized these efforts with this wonderful award.” Leaders in Diversity recipients were recognized in six categories: Workplace Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Role Model, Corporate Leadership and Lifetime Achievement.
