Press Release

Burns & Levinson Proud to Announce Scholarship In Name of Co-Founding Partner, Thomas D. Burns

October 21, 2010

Burns & Levinson LLP, a leading law firm based in Boston, MA, announces that it, along with Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE), has jointly established the Thomas D. Burns Scholarship Fund. MCLE’s named scholarship program honors members of the bar and bench whose lives and work exemplify the best of Massachusetts’ rich legal heritage, while at the same time provides essential funding for scholarships that benefit lawyers who serve the public interest and who, without financial assistance, would not be able to attend MCLE programs.

Salvatore Ricciardone, Esq., MCLE Director of Philanthropy & Special Projects, commented, “MCLE is grateful to Burns & Levinson for pledging $50,000 to help create a scholarship fund in honor of its co-founding partner Thomas D. Burns, one of Boston’s preeminent trial lawyers. Tom has been a giant in the profession for more than 60 years and his work has had a profound impact on the law and on so many who practice in it.”

Burns & Levinson has initiated the fund with a pledge of $50,000. Over the next few months, a fundraising committee of friends and colleagues will continue to build this fund in lasting tribute to Tom.
