Lawrence G. Green Named “Person of the Year” by Temple Ohabei Shalom

April 24, 2013

Burns & Levinson LLP proudly congratulates partner Lawrence (Larry) G. Green for being named “Temple Ohabei Shalom Person of the Year 2013.” He will be honored at the Brookline Temple’s annual Brotherhood Breakfast on April 28, 2013.

Mr. Green is being recognized for his work for the Temple and many years of service and leadership as President and Chair of the American Jewish Service Society (AJSS). Past Person of the Year honorees include Eleanor Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Richard Cardinal Cushing, Eddie Jacobs and Erich Segal.

“Larry was chosen as Person of the Year because of his outstanding contributions not only to this synagogue community, but to the Jewish and secular community at large,” lauded Temple President, Michael Weintraub. “At Temple Ohabei Shalom, Larry has consistently, quietly and most effectively rolled up his sleeves to chair committees, spearhead events, raise and donate money, sit on boards, advocate for action, perform pro bono legal work, lead services and teach Torah.”

Mr. Green and his wife, Denise, joined the Temple in 2003. He served on their Board of Trustees for six years, and has also served as chair of the Temple’s Pre-School Committee, and as co-chair of the Temple’s “Project for Our Future.” Mr. Green created the concept for the “Celebrating Menschen” Gala, now an annual fixture on the Temple’s calendar. The Executive Board and various arms of Temple Ohabei Shalom have called upon Mr. Green to provide legal advice on a variety of issues, all of which he has performed on a pro bono basis.

As a partner at Burns & Levinson, Mr. Green focuses his practice on business litigation and creditors’ rights. In 2012 he was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, and has also been selected for inclusion in Massachusetts Super Lawyers® for seven years. Before joining Burns & Levinson, Mr. Green has served for 15 years as Managing Partner of his predecessor law firm. He has authored “Managing Partner 101,” published by the American Bar Association, and recently authored the short book, “Weaving your Thread in the Tapestry of Judaism.”
