February 26, 2013

Burns & Levinson LLP is pleased to announce that the firm and partner Deborah J. Peckham have been named to the list of the world’s leading trademark attorney firms and practitioners in the third edition of World Trademark Review 1000 (WTR 1000).

Through unbiased research and hundreds of interviews with trademark specialists, the WTR 1000 identifies the leading law firms and individuals setting the industry benchmark for trademark legal services. It is the only definitive guide exclusively dedicated to identifying the world’s leading trademark legal services providers.

Burns & Levinson is one of 12 Massachusetts law firms ranking in the WTR 1000. Specifically, Burns & Levinson was recognized as one of only five Massachusetts firms in the bronze level. WTR noted that the team of trademark attorneys at Burns & Levinson is
“renowned for its remarkably active registration practice and its prominent anti-counterfeiting efforts.”

WTR also noted that Deborah Peckham, co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group is “astute and versatile.” She was also singled out in the rankings “for her deft prosecution and counseling,” and recognized for her “special niche in representing high-technology start-ups.” Ms. Peckham is also the author of the blog, LEX INDICIUM.

The WTR 1000 research covered more than 50 key jurisdictions and identifies the leading practitioners and their firms in both contentious and non-contentious work. Over three months, WTR conducted telephone interviews and exchanged correspondence with hundreds of lawyers, attorneys and their clients involved with trademarks. Individuals qualify for a ranking in the WTR 1000 upon receiving sufficient positive feedback from market sources with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate. Firms qualify for a listing on the basis of their depth of expertise, market presence and the level of work they are typically instructed on.
