Joseph Maraia’s forward-looking, personal approach to knowing his clients business allows him to provide in-depth, strategic intellectual property and business advice aligned with his clients’ business goals. Joe counsels clients in the engineering arts and biotechnology sectors, with particular emphasis on medical devices, LED lighting solutions, semiconductor equipment, power supplies, lasers, image processing devices, optical components, plasma systems, alternative energy technologies, financial services, multimedia, multivariate analysis techniques, and software and telecommunications systems.

As a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Business Litigation Groups, he focuses on strategic business counseling for clients that have an IP focus. This includes U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution, proceedings before PTAB of the United States Patent and Trademark, as well as copyright prosecution before the U.S. Copyright Office; and patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition litigation matters before State and Federal Courts, including the United States International Trade Commission. He also assists his clients in Business Transactions, including Initial Public Offering, follow-on offerings, licensing, and M&A transactions. Joe assisted two of his clients with their Initial Public Offerings, one on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange and the other on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
